The Left Hand Valley Courier has been receiving multiple requests to stop delivering to a certain neighborhood, and we feel it is time to address the issue candidly. I’ve received emails about our “litter” and “trash” being distributed. The Courier also has strong support, and we appreciate all of the kind words from those that understand our purpose and goals with the service we provide. We are a free publication that covers your area. Many people work their tails off to get this paper out every week, the majority of whom work and live in your...

Niwot Business Association President Tony Santelli welcomed the crowd and introduced Bert Steele of Niwot Market, which hosted the June 13 meeting. Steele expressed appreciation for the longevity of the market and thanked his management team, including his daughter Alison, whom he introduced. Niwot Cultural Arts Association president Biff Warren...

  • Between You and Me

    Karen Copperberg, [email protected]|Apr 21, 2017

Originally published April 1, 1997. It’s my personal view that most people would love to have more time to communicate. In many cases, with our busy world, we don’t have the time or the patience to have a really great talk. Oh! For the days spent around the campfire just getting to know each other. What we really need is to drop all the extra things we do. Sound sim...

  • Reflections from Mary

    Mary Wolbach Lopert, [email protected]|Apr 21, 2017

When we first started the Courier I had the distinct impression that we were like one of those 1940s Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney movies, where the kids put on a show in a barn and then decide to take it to Broadway. We were seven people with diverse backgrounds – a lawyer, an architect, a paralegal, a photographer, a teacher, a banker and a FDA investigator. Not quite the butcher, baker and candlestick maker, but close. Our main goal was to highlight the academic and athletic accomplishments of area students that the two local dailies t...

  • Hullinghorst retires from state house

    Jesse Murphy, [email protected]|Mar 2, 2017

Former Colorado Speaker of the House and Boulder County resident Dickey Lee Hullinghorst has officially hung her hat as a state legislator. She finished off her eight year term limit per state statute, and will now retire back to the private sector. “I’ve served all of my four terms,” Hullinghorst said. “I’m kind of glad actually. Eight years, for me at least, was plenty. It was great, I enjoyed it. I had been in the leadership since my second term. I was caucus whip, then the majority...

Gunbarrel Center, the new apartment community located at 5340 Gunbarrel Center Court in Gunbarrel, is welcoming Proto’s Pizzeria Napoletana (Proto’s) as the community’s first restaurant. Proto’s, the popular, Boulder-based pizzeria founded by Pam Proto in 1999, will open an 1,800 square-foot restaurant at Gunbarrel Center this summer. Proto’s is the first commercial tenant to be announced at Gunbarrel Center. When complete, Gunbarrel’s new pedestrian-friendly Main Street will feature sev...
