The Colorado legislature recently passed legislation to curb the powers of homeowners’ associations, and Governor Jared Polis signed the law June 3, 2022, to take effect August 10, 2022. The law grew out of abuses by HOA’s concerning fines, foreclosures, notice and collection activities. Among other things, the new law prohibits an HOA from seeking foreclosure based solely on fines assessed for violation of community rules. The race for Boulder County Commissioner in the Democratic primary election had to wait until all corrected and absentee ballots were counted before the results were certain. On June 26, 2022, at approximately 6:40 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center reported receiving a report of a structure fire located in the 7000 block of Durham Circle in Heatherwood.
