All Local, All The Time

4th of July Parade to start on Meadowdale Drive

The Fourth of July Parade in Niwot is always a joyous and lighthearted celebration of the birth of our nation. This year, slight changes to the lineup area (now on Meadowdale Drive) suggest an even better and more organized approach to the parade, which starts at 11 a.m. and will head west on Niwot road, then northwest on 2nd Avenue, ending at Murray Street.

Parade Grand Marshal Sheriff Joe Pelle and his wife, Stephanie, will host an exciting lineup this year, starting with the Honor Guard, Boy Scouts of America Color Guard and the Niwot Community Semi-Marching Free Grange Band. Sheriff Pelle is a former resident of Niwot, and is being recognized for his years of service to Boulder County and Niwot prior to his retirement at the end of the year.

Tractors, the Mountain View Fire Department's Classic Engine #10, and Sparky will precede groups from area businesses, including Blessings Day Spa, Classic Looks, Niwot Wheel Works and Belle Terre Floral.

Local schools and organizations, including Niwot High School's cheerleaders, band, and football team, Boy Scout Troop 161, Niwot Youth Sports, Niwot United Methodist Church and Left Hand Grange #9, will come next, followed by hundreds of children on decorated bikes, with classic cars and fire engines bringing the parade to a close.

Following the parade, the Niwot Community Association will hold a reception to personally thank Sheriff Joe Pelle for his many years of service. The community is invited to attend the reception at The Niwot Group - Compass real estate offices at 7915 Niwot Road, which will continue until 1 p.m.
