    On Saturday, Aug. 22, about a dozen people gathered at the Niwot post office (150 Murray Street) to protest recent actions by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and "Trump Administration policies" related to the US postal service.     Eddie Running Wolf , an artist who created the Native American tree sculptures in Niwot, passed away on Aug. 5 due to complications from a suspected case of COVID-19. He was 62.     Kate Missett is the Left Hand Valley Courier's newest staffer. Missett, who moved to Niwot in April after nearly 60 years in Wyoming, has remarked that while some people were born with a silver spoon in their mouths, she was born with printer's ink in her veins.     According to Boulder County Transportation, there will be a culvert installation at Glendale Gulch (approximately seven miles up the canyon from US 36). The department will have a closure on Monday, Dec. 19 and Tuesday, Dec. 20 to set a crane to install the culverts. The road will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to noon and 12:15 to 4:30 p.m. both days.     There is a fire ban in place for all of Boulder County. No open burning of any kind is allowed until the ban is rescinded. High fire danger will continue throughout the weekend. Mandatory evacuation notices have been given to more residents near the Cold Springs fire, near Nederland. Those within the mandatory evacuation zone must evacuate.     A small plane crashed last Wednesday, June 15 in Creede, Colorado, killing the three people on board, including 17-year-old Niwot High School student David Louwers, of Longmont. The Cessna 320 plane, which was owned by Rocky Mountain Aerial Surveys of Longmont, went down Wednesday afternoon near the single-runway airport by the small mining town.   • Gunbarrel man shot in dispute

    A Gunbarrel man is in the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury following a dispute between neighbors at the Willow Condominium Complex on the 6200 block of Willow Lane in Gunbarrel. The suspect, age 59, allegedly shot the victim, age 46, in the buttocks with a small caliber handgun. Names are not being released at this time. The victim was transported to an undisclosed hospital, and the suspect was also checked in for a medical evaluation, both transported by ambulance.     The Niwot Children’s Park is less than $60,000 from reaching its goal of $500,000. The fundraising campaign was officially launched in July of 2015.
