    Aurelia Pollard, Editorial@lhvc.com|May 21, 2016

Niwot is known for many events, including the 4th of July and Halloween parades, Enchanted Evening, First Friday Art Walks, and Let’s Wine About Winter. But its most popular and well known event may be its summer concert series Rock & Rails, which runs from June through August. This year, Rock & Rails is planning for another successful year by bringing in people who may not have attended one of the concerts before. Niwot resident Satir DeMarco, the Rock & Rails emcee, schedules all the bands a... Full story

Maddy McCambridge, Kelsey Webster and Taylor Sunset, who live within a couple of miles of each other in Gunbarrel, went to state in Class 5A girls golf last year as part of Coach John Zerwin’s Fairview High School squad. They hoped to return this season, but Sunset, a junior, fell sick during the regional tournament, and had to withdraw. As a result, it will be up to McCambridge, a senior, and Webster, a sophomore, will represent the school at state again this year. Webster moved into the No. 1... Full story

    Aurelia Pollard, Editorial@lhvc.com|Apr 21, 2016

The Niwot girls golf team is working hard out on the green as they have been playing multiple matches each week. Recently, the Cougars had a week with one tough match and one strong performance when they came in second against a number of other schools. On Tuesday, April 12, Niwot competed in a tournament in Thornton, where they were short one player and navigating a difficult course. “Down there we were without Claire [McPeak], who is our number one, but we were able to take four other girls,” Head Coach Dylan Hollingsworth said of Tuesday’s m... Full story

  • Let's Wine About...Winter?

    Aurelia Pollard, Editorial@lhvc.com|Feb 28, 2016

The second annual Let’s Wine About Winter event, went off without a hitch last Saturday, Feb. 20. But if you attended last year’s event, you noticed one very stark difference—the weather. A blizzard accompanied last year’s inaugural event, which still has people talking about to this day. Many were hoping another blizzard would roll in just in time, but Mother Nature had other plans. It was a balmy day for winter, about 65 degrees, sunny and just a tad windy. One event goer said it was more like, “Let’s Wine About Wind,” than winter. But p... Full story

  • Niwot Boys Basketball Ends Season on Losing Streak

    Thorn Compton, Sports@lhvc.com|Feb 28, 2016

The last few weeks were not what the Niwot High School boys basketball team had hoped they would be. Entering the final stretch of the season it was a long shot for the Cougars to make the playoffs, but if they had been able to take care of business and let the chips fall as they would, they would have had a slim shot at seeing the post season. Niwot was not able to do that though, as they ended their season on a five-game losing streak. The most recent losses last week to Centaurus, 50-45, and Northridge, 66-63, were especially hard to...

  • Cougar Boys Struggles Through the Week

    Thorn Compton, Sports@lhvc.com|Feb 17, 2016

Coming into the week, the Niwot High School boys basketball team really needed to win their four remaining games in order to keep their post-season hopes alive. Unfortunately they could not get back on the winning path, dropping both games. The Cougars lost an away game at Thompson Valley on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 64-54, then lost at home on Thursday, Feb. 11 to Mountain View, 64-55.
