All Local, All The Time

Let's Wine About Winter event this weekend

The 2016 edition of Niwot’s “Let’s Wine About Winter” is set from 1 to 5 p.m. on February 20, and a limited number of tickets are still available.

It began last year when the idea was brought back to Colorado from a similar event in Chicago.

“It seemed like such a great idea,” one of the many organizers Anne Postle said. “It’s an event on a usually quiet day in February that brings people to town and allows them to visit different businesses in town.”

There are 26 businesses lined up this year, and Postle said she hopes the event will continue to grow.

“Last year was the first time we did it,” Postle said. “People had a fantastic time, and it brought a lot of people to town.”

A total of 250 tickets are available for this year’s event, they can be purchased for $25 at http://www.eventbrite.com or at Osmosis Gallery in Niwot.

The event is a fundraiser for the Niwot Children’s Park and the Whistle Stop Park, and a way to get people out and about in town.

“They’re able to go around and see what Niwot businesses have to offer,” Postle said. “This is a wonderful thing that is completely run by volunteers. The entire community of Niwot is very supportive of each other, so we work together.

“When somebody has a good idea, all of the businesses rally around and get involved to help. Everything from the big events to the smaller events, they help them be so successful and so much fun. I’m sure we’ll be doing this for years to come.”

Each ticket comes with a mug for the wine and a $10 coupon to spend at any of the participating businesses within the next three weeks.

Those with tickets will check in at Niwot Realty and get a map of the stops that include many different types of red and white wines. Some have beer, and many also will be supplying finger food to munch while on the tour.

Whether the guests start at Cottonwood Square or Second Avenue, they will check back into the central point at Niwot Realty and get a map for the other leg of the tour.

“You can definitely wander around,” Postle said. “There are plenty of businesses to visit and wine to taste.”
