The First Annual International Festival was an event where Twin Peaks Charter Academy celebrated the cultural differences and diversity in their school and community. The festival encouraged TPCA students to be aware of the larger world around them and to embrace the different cultures at TPCA. After a recent special meeting, Bolder County officials now believe they have found a solution to the growing invasive population of prairie dogs. Harvey Danger, an ecologist who specializes in suburban rodent populations, presented both the Bolder Parks and Weed Department and county officials with a proposal that could curb the encroachment of two rival prairie dog colonies. On Tuesday, March 22, Longmont and Firestone police arrested a man who they believe is responsible for eight different robberies of gas stations and liquor stories around Boulder County since January, including the Conoco station in Cottonwood Square. The final two games for the Niwot High School girls basketball team were extremely important for their postseason hopes to come to fruition. They entered the week with a 13-8 record and a 5-7 record in the Northern conference. The last few weeks were not what the Niwot High School boys basketball team had hoped they would be. Entering the final stretch of the season it was a long shot for the Cougars to make the playoffs, but if they had been able to take care of business and let the chips fall as they would, they would have had a slim shot at seeing the post season. The 2016 edition of Niwot’s “Let’s Wine About Winter” is set from 1 to 5 p.m. on February 20, and a limited number of tickets are still available. Recent concerns about wildlife and vandalism have the Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department keeping a close eye on Twin Lakes in Gunbarrel. The suburban retention ponds were split by a fence in August of 2015 due to rules regarding dogs being on leashes. On the east side, dogs must be on a leash, but on the west side, it is not required, and dogs can run free.
