It's not certain when the carpet on the stairs to the second floor of Niwot Hall was last addressed, but best guesses put it somewhere in the 1980s. Long overdue and much appreciated new carpeting was installed last week and it's another of those "small things can be a massive improvement" items checked off the to-do list. Take a look next time you're at the Hall.
Niwot Native Art Market
Sunday, June 1, 11 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The Niwot Native Art Market highlights and celebrates the artistry and contemporary perspectives of emerging Native artists while honoring the work of established Indigenous artisans. Join in the exploration of a vibrant marketplace featuring handmade works including paintings, beadwork, jewelry, prints, and comics from talented Native artists, and help support Indigenous creativity and expression.
Returning Native Art Market artists include Nico Strange Owl, Maxx Wapasha Lake, Kristina and Rafael Maldonado Bad Hand, Marie YellowHawk and Harry Teller, Starr Vipi, Salix Dezrea Renan and Tom Myer. New Native Art Market artists include Rod Velarde, Travis Jensen, and Bill Mendoza. Participating artists represent numerous Tribal Nations, including Apache, Lakota, Navajo, Cheyenne, Haudenosaunee, and Native Hawaiian.
This event is sponsored by the Niwot Cultural Arts Association. Admission is free.
Niwot Wellness Lecture Series
Wednesday, June 4, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Niwot's own wellness experts have created a series of presentations at Niwot Hall that will keep you healthy and happy. Join Dr. Patti Ashley for the second lecture where she presents "Living in Uncertain Times." Dr. Ashley will touch on powerful ways to move forward with resilience and self-compassion. This event is free to the public and drinks and light snacks will be served.
Sponsored by the Niwot Business Association and partially funded by the Niwot Local Improvement District, this series of lectures features Niwot health professionals Dr. Janine Malcolm, Dr. Patti Ashley, and Dr. Amy Chang. Mark your calendar for future events on Sept. 17 and Dec. 3.
Artist's reception - Frances Morris
Saturday, June 7, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
The community is invited to attend the current Niwot Hall artist in residence, Frances Morris, at a reception to celebrate the beauty of her impressionist/realist paintings. Morris's landscapes and still lifes are evocative and calming. Every painting is for sale with 30% of the price being donated to Niwot Hall.
Champagne, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks will be served at the reception, along with a variety of hors d'oeuvres.
Breakfast with the Rotary Club of Niwot
Thursdays, June 5, 12, and 19, 7:30 - 8:30 a.m.
The niwotrotary.org/" target="_blank">Rotary Club of Niwot welcomes the community to the club's morning gatherings at Niwot Hall. Breakfast and coffee are served at each meeting.
June 19 will feature speaker Rick Jacobi, author of "The Historic Eastside," the story of Longmont's first neighborhood. Rick enjoys connecting people with history through houses and the sense of community that it builds.
