Downhill Mile runners at the starting "gate" at Niwot High School pause for the National Anthem.
Niwot Independence Day festivities kicked off at 8:30 a.m. with the annual Niwot Downhill Mile race. The Downhill Mile started at Niwot High School and ended at the Niwot Market with a crowd of participants. The first place winners were 25-year-old Billy Ulrich, who finished in 4 minutes, 8 seconds; and 42-year-old Sarah Piampiano, who finished in 5 minutes, 11 seconds.
