    It was a rough ride for the Niwot boys basketball team at last weekend’s fourth annual Roughrider Shootout at Roosevelt High School. The Cougars went 0-3 at the round-robin tournament, losing on successive days to Skyview, Conifer, and Denver West, and extending their losing streak to eight games.     Representatives from five decades of Niwot wrestling were on hand for the second-annual Niwot Wrestling Alumni Night, held Jan. 5 during the Cougars’ dual against Elizabeth.     Edward (Moon) Thomas Navarro of Longmont, Colorado passed away on December 31, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette after a long and courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born on August 18, 1953 in Pueblo, Colorado to Adrian and Marie (Belen) Navarro, and was the third eldest child of nine. Since their 74-17 pummeling at the hands of Greeley Central on Dec. 8, the Cougars have regrouped, and their renewed focus on discipline and teamwork has started to pay dividends in the form of wins.
