Niwot High School girls golf postseason awards

As the girls golf season comes to a close, individual accomplishments and team milestones have marked a strong finish to the year for the Niwot High School girls golf team. While no trophies were brought home, the team demonstrated determination and potential, setting the stage for a strong showing next season.

"The highlight was having a young team," Head Coach Ed Weaver said. "I was very proud of how the girls played this season. I saw improvement in both their scores and their confidence throughout the season. Each golfer posted personal best scores at various times throughout the season, with a few doing it several times. This made them more confident individually which is very important considering that we are a young team!"

Their lack of experience did not stop the team from competing and excelling at high level competitions. The varsity squad, composed of one junior, Emmy Hostelley, two sophomores, Wendy Cheruiyot and Adison Murphy, and a freshman, Sonya Holmes, finished second in the regional tournament, and all four qualified for the state tournament. In addition, Cheruiyot stood out as 1st team All-Conference and 1st team All-State.

With the young team already finding success, the Girls Golf team is looking forward to a promising and even competitive season next year.
