Niwot High School honors top students at Department Awards

Niwot High School held its annual Department Awards ceremony following the final bell on Wednesday, May 14, in the Commons. The ceremony recognized students for their exceptional attitudes, achievements, and character across various subjects.

In the physical education department, awards went to Axel Zamora Cano (9th grade), Hadyn Spires (10th), Irisel Valenzuela-Loya (11th), and Charlie Shaw (12th).

The world languages department recognized Lia Lindseth (9th), Will Gabrielson (10th), Julia Klein (11th), and Evan Green (12th) for their excellence in language studies.

In family and consumer sciences, the awards were given to Bethzaira Arellano (9th), Callie Leslie (10th), Danica O'Dea (11th), and Simone Paterno and Samantha Kintzel (12th).

For music, Sam Walker (9th), Aidan Coble (10th), Itzel "Lex" Lepe Curiel (11th), and Abby Gabbard (12th) were honored for their musical achievements.

In the visual arts, the awardees were Ripley Goode (9th), Arabella Snyder (10th), Hannah Burdette (11th), and Cora Lincoln (12th) for their contributions to the arts.

The science department saw Eamon Temme (9th), Annabelle Boak (10th), Shiva Garuda (11th), and Malcolm Smith (12th) receive awards for their outstanding performances in the field of science.

In social studies, Ellery Kallal (9th), Ben Codevilla (10th), Claude Leonard (11th), and Jack McGuirk (12th) were recognized for their excellence in social sciences.

The English department's awards went to Jensen Butterworth (9th), Parker Tatic (10th), Irisel Valenzuela-Loya (11th), and Sofia Burks (12th) for their strong contributions to the study of English literature and writing.

For computer science, Ellery Kallal (9th), Brooklynne Pierce (10th), Morgan "Bee" Michaels (11th), and Sanjay Mudukutore (12th) were honored for their achievements in the rapidly growing field of technology.

Finally, the math department's awards were presented to Swaksh Udupa (9th), Will Gabrielson (10th), Logan Waldron (11th), and Aditi Patel (12th) for their excellence in mathematics.

The awards highlight the dedication of both Niwot High School's students and its staff across a variety of disciplines, showcasing the Cougars' commitment to academic excellence.
