Cougar boys volleyball ends season at state tournament

Niwot High School’s boys volleyball team capped off a memorable season with a trip to the Class 5A State Tournament, where they competed in a round-robin play-in format at Trojan Arena in Fountain.

Entering the tournament as the No. 8 seed, the Cougars faced top-seeded Littleton Public Schools. Niwot held its own in two of the three sets, but ultimately dropped the match in straight sets, 25-23, 25-13, 25-13.

Littleton Public Schools would go on reach the championship match before falling to Eaglecrest High School, 3-1.

The following day, Niwot took on No. 5 Grandview High School in its second and final match of the tournament. The Cougars managed to take a set off the Wolves but could not complete the comeback, falling 3-1, ending their postseason run.

With the early tournament exit, Niwot closed out its season with a 16-11 overall record and a 6-3 mark in Northern 5A league play, finishing third in the conference.
