Mountain View Fire Rescue headquarters moving to Niwot

Mountain View Fire Rescue recently announced that the full service fire department will be moving its headquarters from Longmont to Niwot. In anticipation of the move, Mountain View Fire Rescue acquired the office building located at 6328 Monarch Park Place near Niwot. The building has hosted offices for both Crocs and Lucky's Market in the past. Following renovations, the new headquarters will support the department's Administrative, Training, Wildland, Operations, Wellness and Logistics Divisions. The move-in date is not yet known.

Mountain View Fire Rescue supports communities covering approximately 250 square miles including Niwot and unincorporated areas of Boulder County. The Niwot Station 4, located at 8500 Niwot Road, was first built in 1983 to accommodate Niwot's growth and initially was staffed solely by volunteer firefighters.

The Niwot Station has been renovated several times to increase the size of the station and accommodate a larger staff.

Mountain View Fire Rescue has earned International Accreditation by the Commission on Fire Accreditation and was the first fire department in Northern Colorado to obtain this accreditation. This means it has "voluntarily agreed to meet a standard that is significantly higher than required by the state or federal government."
