Niwot High School girls golf is teeing up for the 2023-2024 season

Niwot High School girls golf is back for its ninth season, kicking off March 16. Head coach Ed Weaver returns after another successful season with boys golf. Chad Richert is returning as an assistant coach, while Niwot High School’s IB Physics teacher Byron Rudisill will not be returning after he and his wife had their second child in early February.

The team is coming off of a strong season, with a large returning group from varsity last year. Senior Mina O’Dell will be returning after back-to-back state qualifications, with Junior Alena Kasanicky returning after finishing 11th in the state last year. Junior Ayla Schatz is also likely to return after making varsity as a sophomore last year. Others competing for varsity spots include Wendy Cheruiyot, Scout Worland and Adi Murphy.

“We have a young team,” Weaver said. “Mina is the only senior, Ayla and Alena are juniors, and Wendy, Scout and Adi are all freshmen. Our goals are to win the Longs Peak League and qualify as a team for the state tournament.”

Niwot’s first meet will be on March 16 at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Broomfield at 8:00 a.m. against Boulder High School, Broomfield High School, and Resurrection Christian High School.
