All Local, All The Time
In years past, the Niwot hosted Apres Ski Day, a fun winter event that included winter treats and activities around town. This year, the revamped event has changed its name to "WinterFest" and will be held on Jan. 27 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The name was changed to better celebrate the season and let the community know that no one needs to go skiing before enjoying all the activities.
WinterFest is sponsored by the Niwot Business Association (NBA) with most of the funding coming from the Niwot Local Improvement District (LID). Deb Fowler, Vice-President of the NBA, sees WinterFest as a nice way for Niwot to give back to its community and offer "a little thank you." WinterFest is a wonderful way to get outside during the heart of winter to enjoy warm, family-friendly drinks, snack on delicious treats and take a carriage ride around town. There will be fire pits, music and at 1 p.m., poetry and stories will be read by costumed community members at Inkberry Books. A winter movie will be shown at The Wheel House. Businesses in Niwot will each offer their own take on WinterFest, with specials at each participating location. From Cottonwood Square to Whistlestop Park, everyone can find something to enjoy.
While money isn't needed to take full advantage of everything WinterFest offers, Angela Hudgins, administrator for the NBA, reminds everyone that the Niwot Nickel, handed out in December, is worth $10 off at participating businesses during the month of January to encourage everyone to shop local. Enjoy the season - WinterFest will be a festive time of year in Niwot.
