All Local, All The Time

Home on the Grange

The inaugural New Year’s Eve party at the Left Hand Grange went off without a hitch. Close to 40 attendees started the night with cocktails while listening to the music of local musician John Shepherd. International appetizers and entrees were provided by Anam Soul Food, and the rousing tunes of Niwot’s own House Blend Band chimed in the rest of the evening as folks danced their way into 2024.

The Grange’s new audio-visual system featuring a large television and new speakers allowed party-goers to watch the ball drop in New York almost as if they were there, but it was much warmer inside the Grange.

This year, watch for more upgrades to the Grange building along with other positive changes to the organization. Upcoming events include:

Niwot Community Connection January Meeting

Thursday, Jan. 11, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.

In addition to the usual monthly meeting format of disseminating information and learning what’s happening in each of the many activity groups of the NCC, Niwotian Amy Scanes-Wolfe will present “Exploring the History of Food and Agriculture in Boulder County and its Ecological Implications.”

Amy will discuss how food systems have shaped the ecology of Boulder County over the last 300 years. You’ll learn about the plant and animal foods the plains tribes relied upon, how cattle changed the ecology of the plains, the major annual crops defining our landscapes since the late 1800’s, and the state of food and ecosystems in Boulder County today.

If you would like additional information about the NCC, write to [email protected].
