Record number run Niwot Trot

The 2023 Niwot Trot 5K, which began and ended at Whistle Stop Park Oct. 1, brought a record number of participants, some running, some walking, and some with strollers.

Aimee Morin, one of the main organizers, said the event was well attended, and was a huge success. "We had a record number of participants, just over 600," Morin said. "It was a perfectly cool, sunny morning and everyone brought happy smiles and great energy, making it a memorable and successful event for our community."

The event is one of the main fundraising activities of the Niwot Elementary School Parent Teacher Advisory Council (PTAC). Morin said, "We surpassed our fundraising goals, raising money that will go to essential enrichment programs such as field trips, experiential learning, assemblies, para-professionals, and teacher grants."

The overall top female finisher was Jensyn Pitz (21:50), a middle school student. The overall top male finisher was Joe Gambles (16:46), an adult runner.

The top three female student finishers were Griffin Gottlieb (5th grade - 26:13), Sophia Hoidn (5th grade - 28:16), and Savannah Nowak (2nd grade - 28:49).

Other female winners by grade were Amelia Hincapie (kindergarten), Hazel Tucker (1st grade), Miriam Stiffler (2nd grade), Paula Prunes Mariscal (3rd grade), Poppy Brucker (4th grade), Maia Spannring (5th grade), and Paige Edwards (middle school).

The top three male student finishers were Cooper Edwards (5th grade - 21:40), Darby O'Gorman (4th grade - 23:55), and Oskar Leopold (4th grade - 24:01).

Male winners by grade were Cole Bluse (kindergarten), Graham Burrow (1st grade), Nico Dipallo (2nd grade), Bartley Jenniches (3rd grade), Nathaniel Tucker (4th grade),

Ryker Katalinich (5th grade) and Fletcher Schwartz (middle school).

"We especially want to thank the community and volunteers in addition to our generous sponsors," Morin said.
