All Local, All The Time

"Street Life City View" by photographer Kenneth Wajda at Inkberry Books

"Street Life City View," the new exhibit by photographer Kenneth Wajda, opens at Inkberry Books on Friday, Sept. 1. According to Wajda, the images in the exhibit are representative of a genre called "Street Photography."

"When I'm between assignments in cities across the U.S.," Wajda said, "I take to the street and look for stories that are waiting to be found, lives that need to be documented, and pictures that need to be made. There's something satisfying about going out with no photograph in mind and just seeking the stories of the street to make these images."

Wajda, now a freelance editorial and commercial photographer, was a photojournalist for over 35 years. In 1987 he became a staff photographer at The Times, the largest daily newspaper in Trenton, New Jersey. He received multiple New Jersey Press Association awards for his portrait work and conceptual illustrations.

"I am a storyteller at heart and look to find the story I can tell with an image, whether for a news story or documenting a corporate conference or convention event," Wajda said. "I approach every assignment with a goal of finding the small moments that matter, that tell the story, that reveal the emotion of the scene I'm documenting."

The opening reception for "Street Life City View" is part of the Niwot First Friday Art Walk, sponsored by the Niwot Cultural Arts Association and Osmosis Gallery. The show will run at Inkberry Books from Sept. 1 until Sept. 30.
