Niwot High School girls soccer wins two, jumps to 4-7

This past week the Niwot High School girls soccer team had three games slated against the Grand Junction Central High School Warriors, the Frederick High School Golden Eagles, and the Fort Morgan High School Mustangs. The Cougars beat both the Mustangs and the Eagles, but fell to the Warriors on Saturday.

Niwot's win against Fort Morgan was a blowout, 10-0 win. The victory helped cement what has been a much stronger looking Niwot team. Niwot's goals were scored by senior Mia Dumler, senior Alexandria Boyer, sophomore Victoria Villavicencio, senior Martha McCarthy, junior Menbere Sullivan, freshman Heather Humphrey, and senior Caroline Tusek with Dumpler, Boyer, and McCarthy each posting two goals.

Junior Sami Sessa and freshman Mariah Fletemeyer split time in net, both getting credited with a shutout with Sessa also picking up an assist. Freshman Brynn Schlarb, Dumler, junior Evelyn Hess, senior Kaia Jhonson, and Humphrey each got an assist as well, with senior Tiffany Yie adding two assists.

Niwot's next game was another win against the Golden Eagles by a score of 3-1. Dumler, Yie, and Humphrey each scored goals for Niwot with Dumler and McCarthy also picking up assists. Sessa was in net for Niwot and only allowed one goal. Following the game, Niwot sat on a three game win streak and a league record of 3-2.

Niwot's final game of the week came on Saturday when the Cougars took on the Grand Junction Central Warriors. Niwot's 3-game winning streak ended with a 3-0 loss to the Warriors.

Niwot is now 4-7 on the season, and with four games left, the season can still go in a variety of directions. Niwot is slated to face the Skyline High School Falcons and the Thompson Valley High School Eagles next week Thursday's game against the Falcons is a home game at 6:30 p.m. on the new field.
