Mountain View Fire Rescue board election is May 2

A Board of Directors election for the Mountain View Fire Rescue District is scheduled for May 2.

The Board of Directors is made up of five residents or property owners within the special district, which provides first responder firefighting and rescue service to a large area, which includes Niwot and most of Gunbarrel. The election will fill three of the positions with a four-year term.

Five candidates are running for the three seats: Their backgrounds are described on the district's website and in public records:

Todd Venrick, who resides in rural northeastern unincorporated Boulder County, is a lieutenant with the Longmont Fire Department and has worked in the fire service for 25 years.

Tem Dowo Dieudonne "Donne" Sedegan, who resides in Mead, is a former Boulder County resident, who has spent 22 years in the insurance and risk management industry.

Suzanne DeVenny of Superior, owns a bookkeeping service and is the current Mountain View Fire Rescue Board Treasurer, having served on the board since the 2020 merger with the Rocky Mountain Fire Protection District, where she was a board member from 2015-2020.

Colleen Whitlow, a 10-year military veteran who worked for Janus Consulting, Inc. and for IBM in project management, is the mayor of Mead and previously served on the Mountain View Fire Rescue board.

John Heisler has been a property owner and resident of Erie since 2020.

The Mountain View Fire Rescue station at 8500 Niwot Road is a polling place, which will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. More information on candidates is available at https://www.mvfpd.org/elections.
