Silver Creek boys swim/dive starts season 3-0

Coach Debbie Stewart must be pleased with Silver Creek boys’ swimming season start. Beginning with a decisive victory at the three school “Sprints Meet” opener (265,171,74) over Brighton and Longmont, the combined boys swim team notched three wins to begin the season with a 3-0 record. At the Sprints Meet, the 50m Freestyle went to Brighton’s Trey Wilson (23.34) before Silver Creek claimed the next eight places. Three hundredths of a second separated Wilson from Creek’s Stephen Codevilla in 2nd, followed by Brayden Stalcup, Sean Wyatt, Lincoln Miller, Brighton Langenegger, Rider Neeb, Justin Gawrych and Evan Welding. Welding then picked up a 2nd place in the 100 Freestyle as Brighton’s Wilson continued his roll.

Never looking back, Codevilla, Gawrych, Stalcup and Jack Fischman would go on to take the top four spots in the 200 Free. Markkus Tong, Ngampatipatpong, Welding and Neeb took places one through four in the 200 Individual Medley. Dowlin again took 1st in diving with a score of 245.8 as Walker, Neeb and Fischaber nabbed 2nd, 4th and 5th places. Monarch’s Luke Corson (22.78) bested Creek’s Hudson Kammerer and took 2nd in the 50 Free (22.80), with Wyatt (23.89), Langenegger (24.00), and Milam (24.05) taking 3rd through 5th. Finally, just before spring break Creek bested Broomfield 199-109 with Dowlin, Walker, Neeb and Fischaber grabbing 1st through 4th in diving, Welding taking 1st in the 50 Free, Ngampatipatpong taking 1st in the 100 Free (54.15) and 100 Breast (1:05.56) and Codevilla taking 1st in the 100 Fly (57.82).

Next, Silver Creek goes up against Fort Collins’ Liberty Common School on March 30. Coach Debbie Stewart said she’s “hoping everyone returns healthy and rested up (after break), ready to hit the second half of the season stronger than the first-and the first half looked pretty solid with 15 guys making state cuts in multiple events.”
