Monarch Improvement Project taking shape

The Monarch Improvement Project at Hangge Fields at Monarch Park is starting to take shape. The Niwot Youth Sports construction project, which includes building a permanent building for concessions, storage, meetings, and permanent bathrooms, is moving forward in spite of the snow and cold weather.

Niwot contractor Porchfront Homes is handling construction of the building, with Ben Beveridge serving as project manager. Larry Longseth, who served as Equipment Manager for Niwot Youth Sports for many years when his children, Pat and Robbie, were participating, is helping coordinate the project. Pat Longseth is now the President of Niwot Youth Sports.

Larry Longseth reported that the concrete pad was poured on Feb. 11, during a stretch of good weather. "The rough plumbing is done and we poured the concrete floor Saturday," he reported. The framing package was delivered last week.

"We will see walls being raised soon, in the next two weeks, weather permitting. I expect E-Z Excavation will lay the sewer line to Monarch Road in the next few weeks as well, weather permitting," Longseth said. Nick Davies, another Niwot Youth Sports alum, owns E-Z Excavation. The contractors working on the project are discounting costs, which helps keep the cost affordable.

"I talked to Ben yesterday," Larry Longseth said. "The framing package is on-site and framing may start as early as Monday." His grandchildren got involved as well. "Pat's kids helped clear the snow so it's ready when they arrive."

Fundraising efforts continue as completion is planned for prior to the 2023 baseball and softball seasons. Tax deductible donations can be made online at http://www.niwotyouthsports.org.
