All Local, All The Time
On Saturday, Jan. 14, at 7:00 p.m. Inkberry Books of Niwot will host a presentation by Jason Dennen, author of “8 Days Till Sunrise.” Dennen is a Christian, author, inspirational speaker, skydiver, mountain climber, triathlete, and explorer.
Born and raised in New Jersey, he moved to Colorado to explore the wide-open spaces in the west and test his limits.
The book is a story about a man going down an unintended path where he lost his way. He thought he was going through one of life's difficult trials when he hit the side of a building at high speed in a skydiving accident. But that is when his real trial began.
The accident left him in a coma for eight days. He woke up from the coma to a badly broken body that required him to stay in the hospital for three-and-a-half months and undergo 11 months of rehabilitation and relearn to walk.
After being told by his doctor he may never be able to run again, he decided to sign up for a triathlon to test the doctor's prognosis. Less than one year after the accident he completed a triathlon and proved the doctor wrong. He relied on the foundation he had built years before the accident to survive and recover from the accident, and was guided by the scriptures and lessons from the Bible that he learned throughout his life.
The long journey to recovery from the accident allowed Dennen time to reassess the direction of his life and answer the question, “Why was his life spared?” This second chance at life revealed to him a new purpose in life, and he promised himself that he would share his story and what he learned to help others who are going through difficult hardships in their own lives.
Dennen is on a mission to inspire people by sharing his story of survival, and to empower people to get through life's most difficult hardships by utilizing the lessons they have already learned throughout their lives, and by taking advantage of the strength they already possess inside themselves.
