All Local, All The Time

Elise Marylander Profile

Growing up in a big Air Force family, it was normal to move regularly, explore a new area and make new friends. However, I have lived in the Niwot area for thirty years, the longest I've ever been in one place. I continue to explore the area and I have made many friends. I never get tired of looking at the Flatirons.

I attended UCLA where I earned my bachelor's degree in English and then Loyola Law School where I earned my Juris Doctorate and met my husband. My family moved to Colorado from Los Angeles in the early 1990s knowing no one here. We just knew this is where we wanted to raise our children. Our three children then attended Boulder Country Day School and Niwot High School before graduating from the University of Colorado. They all flew the coop, so we travel a lot to see them.

I have volunteered at various local organizations including Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County where I served as president, and the children's schools. I enjoy horseback riding and I used to compete in reining, so there is a little bit of cowgirl in me. At the risk of sounding like a dating app, I also enjoy music, family, cooking, trivia, and theme parties.

I practice corporate law and estate planning in addition to my duties as the Assistant Editor for the Left Hand Valley Courier, where I edit articles from our amazing staff of reporters, respond to our readers' inquiries, and create our weekly crossword puzzle. I also periodically write articles and a column about the humor and commonality in the everyday.
