Vandals strike bookstore

Sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 and 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, vandals threw a large rock through the bay window of Inkberry Books in Cottonwood Square.

Nothing appeared to be stolen from the store, but "glass was everywhere" according to Gene Hayworth, who co-owns the bookstore with his partner, Keith Waters.

"Dawn Dunlop from Garden Gate saw it when she came to work Saturday and called," Hayworth said. The Boulder County Sheriff is investigating.

"Keith talked to Officer Cunningham, the officer who took the report about the window," Hayworth said. "Cunningham said that ....it was a large rock. Cunningham thinks the rock came from the [rock] garden in front of the store. He also said that there were several scratches on the windows that indicated whoever did this mischief had thrown several rocks."

Anyone with information should contact the Boulder County Sheriff at 303-441-4444.
