All Local, All The Time
The Niwot High School Unified Bowling Team, under Coach Amy Holle, qualified for the state tournament held November 18
at AMF Belleview Lanes in Englewood. One of 18 teams vying for honors in the third-ever State Tournament since Unified Bowling became a CHSAA-sanctioned sport in 2020, Niwot planned to send a four-person team of three seniors and one junior.
Coach Holle, a NHS Special Education teacher, said she was pleased that the team was "good enough to be considered and to be able to compete against the best."
Niwot's team, consisting of seniors Tiffany Yie, Walter Snowden, Veer Gandhakwala and junior Ashlee Wood, unfortunately wasn't able to make it to the tournament with all the snow that fell Thursday night and Friday morning. For the third year in a row a team from Pueblo took the title. This time it was Pueblo Central with the win.
Nevertheless, Coach Holle and assistant coaches Dawn Zwisler and Tovah France and the entire NHS Unified Bowling Team can be proud of their performance this season. In addition to the aforementioned four (pictured here), team members
include Ethan Withnell, Emmett Vertuca, Zyra Avila, Jack Frailey, Jake Hostelley, Cassandra Eickmann, Adam Roth, Alex Haney-Osborn, Fred Zorgdrager, Jordan Roth, Julia Leon and Evelin Munoz-Sanchez. Look for the Cougars to be back next season competing for a spot at the state tournament again.
