Fun Fundraising at Around the World Day

Niwot is renowned for its strong community and generous fundraising efforts. So the NBA (Niwot Business Association) and NCAA (Niwot Cultural Arts Association) were able to incorporate two fundraising elements into the Niwot Around the World day on May 14, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Each business participating in the day by "dressing up" as a country will have a collection box for Ukraine - the money collect will go towards the purchase of the sculpture, Kore That Awakening, sculpted by Ukranian artist Egor Zigura in his Ukrainian studio and on loan at the Niwot Sculpture Park since February 2020.

Zigura has indicated that he plans to give the money directly to other Ukrainian artists he described as "more in need than I am." Niwot resident Karen Quinn has also made blue and yellow ribbon pins that will be next to the collection boxes so Niwot folks can donate and wear a pin with pride.

The NCAA is coordinating the effort to purchase the sculpture, which is priced at $25,000.00. At press time, over $7,500 has been raised, and an anonymous donor has offered to match the first $10,000 raised. Donations are tax deductible and should be made payable to the NCAA with a note indicating "Awakening." Checks can be mailed to the NCAA at P.O. Box 733, Niwot, CO 80544, on the http://www.niwotarts.org website, or at the Around the World Day event.

On a more local level, the NBA will continue to raise funds to go towards Niwot's Small Town - Big Heart Fundraiser for the Marshall Fire Fund. There will be a Grand Silent Auction in the Emporium at 136 2nd Ave. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. consisting of 80 items - from gift cards to local businesses and restaurants, kids baskets, pamper pooch baskets, original artworks and things to do. The auction will end promptly at 4 p.m. and prizes won will be available for pick up and payment from the DRF Real Estate office, Colorado Landmark in suite E of the Emporium after the auction.

The Marshall Fire Fund stands at over $62.500 at press time. Donations are tax deductible. Checks should be made payable to the Community Foundation Boulder County and can be mailed to the NBA, P.O. Box 92, Niwot, CO 80544, with a note indicating Marshall Fire Fund.
