Niwot Cookie Moms' patriotic packing

Diana Wartburg, Twyla Barrett and Patty Strecker pack donated goodies into red, white and blue boxes decorated by Michelle and Hattie Steege. The packages are destined for military bases overseas, and any deployed troops marking American holidays away from their families. The Cookie Moms prepare and send packages for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, and, naturally, Independence Day.

Among the treats were homemade baked goods, a popular addition that is frequently mentioned in thank you notes from recipients of the care packages.

Many of the Cookie Moms' treats and supplies are donated, but Tip Jar donations from the Cookie Moms' night at a Rock & Rails concert, and donations at the Easter pancake breakfast help cover expenses for postage.
