Eli Earl Buzas, 70, of Arvada, Colorado, lost his battle with COVID-19 on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
He is remembered by his mother Saveta Buzas, loving wife Christine Brott Buzas, sister Elizabeth "Betty" Buzas, brother George Buzas married to Kim Buzas, daughter Melinda Holt married to Don Holt residing in Arvada, son Matthew Buzas married to Sandra Buzas residing in Evergreen, and Joseph Lonn married to Anthony Lonn residing in Sydney, Australia, and grandchildren Thomas and Natalie (Melinda) and Byron and Walker (Matthew).
Eli was born April 19, 1950, to Saveta and Aurel Buzas, in Allen Park, Michigan. He met Christine Brott on a blind date in 1969 at Albion College, their Alma Mater, where he graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor's Degree. The two married in 1973, and eventually relocated to Florida, where they had three children; Melinda, Matthew, and Joseph. In 1991, the family moved to Colorado, where they lived across the Front Range, in Gunbarrel, Longmont, Niwot, and Arvada. Eli owned and operated his own real estate business, Colorado 1st Properties, using his professionalism, honesty and friendly demeanor to help people all across the Front Range find and sell their homes.
Eli enjoyed RVing with his wife Chris, and together, they visited all 48 contiguous states. Eli loved entertaining and opened his doors to everyone in the community when there was a chance to share a meal or celebrate an occasion. From daylight savings time reminders to his annual holiday nut bread, you could always count on Eli. Eli was a showman at heart, capturing attention with captivating stories, perfectly timed jokes, or a well-oiled card trick. Eli was a fountain of knowledge and shared it sincerely, through interactions with his grandkids over a train set, home improvement advice to grown children, and real estate knowledge to jittery first-time home buyers.
Eli was a keystone community member who used his business savvy to help build sustainable programs that supported individuals, students, families, parishioners, and communities across the Front Range. Eli was instrumental in founding the Niwot High School Education Foundation; he served on the Vestry and held many leadership positions at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Gunbarrel; and was a founding member and Charter President of the Rotary Club of Niwot. Eli sought to enrich and advocate for the people around him and will always be remembered for his authentically genuine spirit and community focus.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the OUR Center in Longmont, and Community Table in Arvada. Funeral arrangements are pending.
