All Local, All The Time

Niwot to have a local tasting tour

It is a truth that food brings people together-family gatherings, casual business meetings, and first dates often occur with some sort of dining experience. Even pop-culture recognizes the level of importance of restaurants. Famously, in When Harry Met Sally, Marie (played by Carrie Fisher) said, "Restaurants are to people in the 80s what theatres were to people in the 60s."

Dining out has become more complicated lately, especially in light of COVID. In response, the Niwot Business Association has launched a Tasting Tour set to go through the month of September.

NBA executive director Catherine McHale said, "I think that people want to support local [businesses] and to be part of our Niwot community. We want to reward them."

This tasting tour includes 13 participating restaurants in the downtown and Cottonwood Square areas of town. Participants go to the tasting tour's site to download a tour-passport, and if receipts with a minimum $10 purchase from five participating dining locations are submitted, participants are entered into a drawing for $500 worth of vouchers.

McHale said, "We want to make it easy for people. As long as they spend more than $10, they can be entered once they have those five receipts."

Not only does the NBA want to encourage community members to support local business through this tasting tour, but it also wants to provide more opportunities for community involvement. McHale explained that this is an opportunity for residents to come together in a safe, easy and fun way. "We want people to know that Niwot is still open."

The tour is currently being promoted on social media, and there will be posters in participating restaurants. Information about the tour, and its passport, can be found at niwot.com/tasting-tour. Participating restaurants include 1914 House, The Old Oak Coffeehouse, Pinocchio's Italian, Lefty's Gourmet Pizza, The Garden Gate Cafe, Abo's Pizza, Subway of Niwot, Niwot Market & Cafe, Sachi Sushi, Fan's Chinese Cuisine, Raza Fresa, Niwot Tavern and Winot Coffee Company.
