All Local, All The Time

A Watershed graduate is ready for college and prepared for life

Our Real World Learning model brings students out of the standardized testing and memorization loop into a different kind of educational experience than that which is offered in most schools.

Instead, Watershed offers a globally relevant and engaging, multi-disciplinary curriculum that gives students practical, problem-solving skills that enable them to take on the world’s greatest challenges.

On a daily basis, our students experience an academically rigorous curriculum that enables them to become creative problem solvers who can adapt, collaborate and contribute to the close-knit community at Watershed, as well as be a responsible steward of the world around them. Adolescence is an important time in human development, and at Watershed, we strive to support our students in that development by allowing them to be who they are while at the same time helping them learn how to care for themselves, each other, and the world around them. As a result, they love coming to school here.

Watershed students learn with a purpose. Standardized tests don’t teach kids to function in the real world, but algebra classes that help solve real-life engineering problems or design classes that incorporate entrepreneurial, small-business skills help students achieve mastery at the skills that they will use in real life. Kids at Watershed never sit in class and wonder, “Will I ever use this in real life?”

Watershed graduates leave with seven distinct character traits in their toolkit: Optimism, Gratitude, Empathy, Curiosity, Grit, Self-Control, and Social Intelligence. These character traits, along with the relevant experiences and academic skills mastered during their time at our school, prepare Watershed students to thrive in any pursuit.
