Letter to the Editor

Ms. Strecker and all Niwot Patriotic Cookie Moms and Dads,

Good evening from [the middle east]. I just received an Easter package from you guys and I wanted to shoot you a quick note to express my appreciation and gratitude. I am an infantry platoon leader with 25 soldiers and I was able to share the cookies and goodies with all of my guys. They loved the cookies and we've been sharing the chocolate Easter bunny. The Rummy game and playing cards have been a hit and the flag stars were a real morale boost.

All my soldiers appreciate the sentiment and recognize that what we are doing is important and that people back home support us. Thank you so much for going out of your way to send us the package and the note. It can be tough being so far from home for so long, but receiving things like this helps tremendously.

On a personal note, I am from Lafayette, just a few miles down the road! I went to Centaurus High School and grew up with friends at Niwot. I used to participate in the Niwot baseball camps in the summer many years ago. Anyway, thank you again for the support, the package, and the letter. It truly does mean a lot to us and we hope you have a great Easter holiday as well.

We're going to continue to get after it over here!

Joseph L. Carrannante
