All Local, All The Time

Niwot dispensary seeing success

Starbuds Niwot has been moving forward for owners Ernie, Callie and Caitlin Craumer since opening the doors at 6924 N. 79th last month.

Caitlin said that they have had a great reaction from the local business community.

“We’ve had a lot of other business owners come in and introduce themselves and welcome us to the community,” Caitlin Craumer said. “There are also a lot of people who have never been inside a dispensary come in and see how it looks and how it feels.”

“We’ve had a lot of new customers and return customers, and a lot of support from locals … that’s been great. I think people are excited that we’re here, and we’re excited about how things are looking for us.”

She said that some of the more popular products being sold are those with a higher concentration of Cannabidiol (CBD) — a chemical in the plant that has a variety of benefits without the stereotypical “high” many people associate with marijuana.

“We have been selling a lot of CBD,” Craumer said. “People want to come in for that kind of relief, so that has been great. We’ve met a lot of really nice people and we have a lot of return customers, so that means that people are finding things that they like and they’re happy that we’re here.”

Another aspect of Starbuds Niwot is that they want to educate their customers on their products and benefits.

Their “board of education” contains pamphlets and other materials for customers to look at with information, including effects, dosages and various forms of cannabis.

“That’s been a really good way for people to gain understanding of what products are available to them,” Craumer said. “I think it’s been a really great way of explaining what these products are to people who might not have used them in the past.”

At their grand opening in November, six vendors were available to answer questions. Vendor pop-ups are something Starbuds hopes to continue weekly or monthly.

“We’ve been focusing on getting people in and working out those kinks of a new business,” she said. “People have loved our education board … We have a ton of material that people can help themselves to on a regular basis.”

This weekend they’re hosting an “Eve of the Eve” celebration on Dec. 30 with five percent of proceeds going to local charities.

“We’re excited to be here, we have a lot of momentum going into the holidays,” Craumer said. “We are really thankful for the people who have come in and expressed their excitement that we’re here and have supported our business and welcomed us into the community.”
