Errors doom Cougars softball

The Niwot Cougars battled Longmont in a high-scoring affair, but came out on the short end of a 20-16 score September 8, largely because of 10 errors in the field. Niwot is now 3-6 on the season and 2-3 in the Northern League.

Grace Ladd led the offense with four hits in five at bats, including a home run. Ladd scored two runs and had five RBI’s. Alexis Law had three hits including a double and scored five runs, while Reagan Wills had two hits, scoring three runs and posting three RBI’s.

Ladd pitched four and 2/3 innings and struck out 10 batters. She allowed 17 runs, but only five were earned runs. Madison Kunkel finished in the circle, allowing three runs, two of which were earned.

The Cougars fell to Silver Creek, 10-1 on September 6 at home, with five errors contributing to the loss. Ladd went the distance in the circle, allowing 10 runs, five of which were earned, while striking out nine.

Wills scored the only run of the game for Niwot on a close play at the plate. Ladd and Madysun Vaughan led the offense with two hits each, while Wills had the only other hit of the game for Niwot.
