Cougar Girls Basketball can't Shake Losing Streak

After starting the season 8-1, the Niwot Cougar girls basketball team has dropped its last four games.

Most recently they lost in two games last week against Longmont and Thompson Valley, and in both contests, the team was unable to keep their opponent under 59 points.

On Tues., Jan. 12 the Cougars lost a home game to Longmont 61-40, a game in which only one Niwot player scored in the double digits. YY Chen scored ten points for the Cougars, while Keena Strope and Alyssa Jenkins each contributed seven.

They played a closer game on Fri., Jan. 15 at Thompson Valley, but Niwot still dropped the game 59-46. Chen was able to expand upon her performance and score 11 points on five field goals, while sophomore Sophie Grant returned to the team to lead in scoring with 18 points. Jenkins also contributed nine points on four baskets.

The Cougars looks to end their losing streak on Tues., Jan. 19 against Mountain View at home. The score can be found on Maxpreps.com.
