Boulder County Sheriff’s Department requests AR-15 rifle storage at NHS

The Boulder County Sheriff’s office is holding a meeting for the Niwot feeder community on Thursday, June 7 from 6-7 p.m. at Sunset Middle School to present a pilot program that would allow the sheriff’s department to securely store an AR-15 rifle inside Niwot High School’s main office. The rifle would be in a locked safe. The sheriff believes that storing an AR-15 would facilitate a better response time to an incident and provide the school resource officer with an important additional Resource.

The department wants to receive public input before presenting the program to the board of education.
