All Local, All The Time

High winds cause local power outages, tree damage

Winds gusting up to 65 m.p.h. knocked down power lines and snapped tree limbs as a quick moving front descended on the front range Tuesday afternoon.

Power outages and street closures caused busing disruptions for students in the St. Vrain Valley School district, and many area athletic events were rescheduled. The girls soccer match between Niwot and Longmont will be played tomorrow at Niwot at 4 p.m., as will the baseball game against Skyline.

Winds are expected to diminish overnight, and the forecast for Wednesday calls for a high near 60, with moderate winds.
