Jazz on Second Avenue ready to go

This year’s Jazz on Second Avenue is ready to go with some of the biggest names in the genre.

With the help of the Colorado Jazz Group, the Niwot High School band will start the show at 2 p.m. on September 16 on the corner of Second Ave. and Niwot Road. Gates open at 1 p.m.

Howard Treppeda, one of the organizers, said that it’s great to get the high school band involved.

“The Colorado Jazz Group starts working with them a week before,” Treppeda said. “They get the work in, it’s a good show.”

The full lineup for the the event includes Pecho Sanchez & his Latin Jazz Band, Dave Stryker Organ Trio, BLT with special guests Joey Gulizia & Gary Regina and the Adam Bodine Quartet.

Tickets for adults are $20 for general admission, children 12 and under are free.

The Colorado Jazz Group is a 501(c)3 non-profit, and proceeds from these events are used directly to fund music education programs.

If unable to attend, donations can be made to the non-profit at http://www.jazzon2ndave.com. All donations are tax deductible. Volunteers and sponsors are always welcome as well.
