In order to accommodate a flood recovery-related culvert installation project at Boulder/Lefthand Ditch, Boulder County Transportation will need to fully close 71st Street between Highway 52 and Lookout Road starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 22. The road closure will be in effect 24-hours per day, seven days per week until Friday, June 10, weather permitting.

71st Street Residential and Business Access During Construction

71st Street access to Mt. Sherman, Mt. Meeker, and Glacier View roads into Gunbarrel Estates will be from the south off of Lookout Road

71st Street access to Winchester Circle and the Gunbarrel Technical Center will be from the north off of Highway 52

71st Street access to the multi-use Longmont-to-Boulder Trail from the south off of Lookout Road – Trail will remain open to bikes and pedestrians during construction.

The culvert that currently carries Lefthand/Boulder Ditch under 71st Street will be upsized to accommodate higher flows and to help mitigate roadway overtopping during future flood events.
