Children’s Park Clean-Up Day postponed to May 6

The clean-up day for the Niwot Children’s Park planned for April 29 was a casualty of the late-April snowstorm. Jason Thomas was the only one to brave the snow and cold to walk the park with Niwot Cultural Arts Association staff, picking up two pieces of trash. Longtime park supporter Stacey Secatch came by the park earlier in the week and removed dog waste which had been left behind.

The NCAA will try again for Saturday, May 6 at 9 a.m. Free donuts will be provided. Volunteers are asked to bring a rake and some work gloves. Tasks include raking wood chips, clearing out the grass and general cleanup. If time permits, there will be some clean-up at Whistle Stop Park across the street as well. Any volunteer needing community service hours can qualify.

The NCAA reminds park users of the “Pack it In, Pack it Out” policy with regard to trash. There are no trash receptacles at the park. Niwot is unincorporated and there are no tax dollars available for maintenance of the park, the cost of which is paid solely from donations and fundraising efforts of the NCAA.
