Silver Creek swimmers enter homestretch

The Silver Creek boys swim team is closing in on the finish of the 2017 season. This last week saw the Raptors swimming in the Mountain View Lions 2017 Last Chance Invitational, Silver Creek’s third and final non-conference, multi-team invitational meet of the spring.

Silver Creek, which includes swimmers from both Silver Creek and Niwot High, finished seventh out of the 10 teams in the meet. Divers Benjamin Willett and Ashton Hubert continued their strong recent showings, placing 11th and 12th, respectively. The Raptors’ two top placements on the day both came from team leader Christopher Wingfield, who posted the eighth best time in the 100 m butterfly and the 10th lowest mark in the 200 m individual medley. Other top-twenty individual finishers included Kendrick Choong, coming in at 16th in the 100m freestyle, Colby Wingfield at 19th in the 100m breaststroke, and Roland Bailey and Hayden Dickinson at 15th and 19th, respectively, in the 200m freestyle.

In the day’s relay events the Raptors’ best finish was at the seventh spot in the 200 m freestyle, followed by a 14th-place finish in the 400 m freestyle and the 15th best time in the 200 m medley.

Silver Creek finishes up the regular season this week with two home contests, first a non-conference meet vs. Broomfield on Tuesday, May 2, followed by a meet against conference rival Greeley Central on Thursday, May 4.
