Niwot Florist for Sale

Since October of 2013, Kristy Grubb has been the proud owner of Niwot Florist, which specializes in beautiful arrangements and bouquets.

Along with special orders daily and arrangements available for customers on the run, the store offers many gift ideas and party supplies to the community. Recently Grubb has announced that she will be selling the store due to personal life opportunities with her fiancé.

In 2013, Grubb had just finished a semester of teaching when she realized she wasn’t quite ready to start her teaching career. She was trying to figure out what she should do for a job when the former owner of Niwot Florist, Diane Strong, announced that she was going to sell, which led to an opportunity for her to take on the business.

“I had no experience in floral, no background in design, and certainly no experience with owning a business, but for some reason I had this thought that maybe this was the right move for me,” said Grubb. “With the support from my family and friends, I decided to jump into the floral business. I have always been a creative person, and I am a pretty quick learner, so I spent the first year with Diane learning and absorbing everything that I could about being a florist. I spent the second year really fine tuning everything that I had learned, and finally this past year — my third year — I finally have felt that I have my own ‘style’ and way of doing things.”

Grubb currently is a one-man show doing everything from the arrangements to deliveries.

After much consideration and support from her family and friends Grubb has decided to move to Amsterdam with her fiancé, Veric Nichols, which has led to her decision to sell Niwot Florist.

The move comes with a lot of emotions, both excitement as well as nervousness, she said. Grubb and her fiancé are excited to travel and see a different side of the world. Being young, they hope they will get to spend time together, have visitors, and really take in the European culture, but it is a bittersweet decision due to her success with Niwot Florist.

Her plan is for the store to stay open and she hopes she will find someone to take it over. Grubb has put so much love and excitement into this business that she hopes she can find someone with the same passion.

“I adore the town of Niwot, as I grew up here, and I would love to find someone with a passion for not only the shop, but for the town as well,” Grubb said. “Niwot Florist has been the hardest, yet most rewarding thing I have done in my life. I have learned so much about myself, and about being a small business owner. I have learned to listen and explain. I have learned to appreciate the little things. I have learned that when you get knocked down, there is always a way to stand back up. I believe that this experience has helped me become a better person, a harder worker, a more committed person, and over-all happier person. I could not have done this without the support of my family and friends. They are the ones that have pushed me to accomplish something I never even dreamed of, but now can’t imagine my life without. They have helped me succeed and for that I am eternally grateful. “

With the move brings many emotions but new career opportunities for both Grubb and her fiancé. Grubb stated that she is going to miss the people and town as she grew up here.

“My heart is here and I have gotten to know so many people through this business, people that really have touched my heart,” Grubb said. “I love watching people’s faces light up when they receive flowers. I love talking with customers, seeing new faces, and old friends. I will also miss my brides. I love helping brides create their vision. From the initial meeting, to the day of the wedding, I love every part of it. Although stressful, it’s a lot of pressure and trust put into my hands. I love seeing the bride light up as I walk into the room with their bouquet that they will be holding as they marry their love of their life. I will miss the people from the Niwot Market; they have become family. I will definitely be leaving a piece of my heart not only at Niwot Florist, but at Niwot Market as well.”
