USCIS welcomed 29 new citizens at Twin Peaks Charter Academy

Twenty-nine immigrants from 16 countries took the Oath of Allegiance to become U.S. citizens on Wednesday, Oct 26 at Twin Peaks Charter Academy in Longmont.

The countries include Argentina, Canada, People’s Republic of China, Guatemala, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippines, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Turkey and Venezuela.

Twin Peaks Principal David Yu spoke at the ceremony. Scott Koenigsberg, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Denver Field Office supervisory immigration officer, administered the oath. The school choir also sang the national anthem.

Twin Peak students just finished studying a unit on the U.S. Constituion and took the naturalization quiz in class.

Naturalization is the process by which U.S. citizenship is conferred upon foreign citizens or nationals after they fulfill the requirements established by Congress. During fiscal year 2015, more than 729,995 immigrants were naturalized.
