Boulder Country Day hosts social media awareness for parents

Parents need to know the latest youth social media trends and potential dangers in order to help guide their child to post responsibly and stay safe. But how?

For most parents, social media is overwhelming. There are thousands of apps and it’s a moving target; what is popular today is out tomorrow.

Boulder Country Day School (BCD) is holding an interactive parent presentation that will review what parents need to know about teen social media use. It will also provide helpful resources to help them stay up-to-date with the latest trends and apps, and keep their kids safe.

Speaker Robert Hackenson Jr. is a professional speaker and “edutainer” with over a decade of experience speaking to youth, parents and professionals. He has now spoken in 38 states and counting, as well as Canada, and his unique skills have earned him numerous appearances on multiple media outlets.

Whether you are tech savvy or have no idea what this whole “social media” stuff is about; whether your child is even using social media (yet) or if they are about to graduate high school, this presentation has something for you.

You will not only leave this presentation understanding the potential issues, but with a variety of simple tips and tricks to help guide your child and promote responsible posting.

The event will take place on Thursday, September 1 from 6-8:30 p.m. Registration is appreciated, but not required. Register at http://www.bouldercountryday.org/Parent Education Series or call 303-527-4931.
