ShopGirl offers high-end consignment boutique to community

For most women shopping is a favorite pastime, and even those who don’t label themselves ‘shopaholics’ would admit to enjoying browsing through stores every now and then.

A new store in Niwot hopes to give women throughout Boulder County and Denver a place to come buy and sell once-loved, high-end fashion items. ShopGirl owners Rita Williamson and Bethany Fetté are full of life and a love for fashion, whether it’s Chanel, Free People or Lulu Lemon.

Williamson used to own Silhouette Massage, which she recently converted into the consignment store with Fetté. “I was tired of massage and was looking for something new,” Williamson said of the change.

The fashion duo began the store’s transition in January and are excited to finally open. Fetté spent 10 years working as a personal stylist for Nordstrom and has always been a “retail slave.” She said they’re dubbing themselves a fashion exchange, because their business is more than just buying and selling clothes.

“Consignment is a growing business,” Fetté said. “But we’re different than what’s going on in Boulder County. We’re very selective in what we take [and] it’s basically what all the cool kids should be wearing.”

Williamson said she enjoys having Fetté as her business partner. The two friends might have different styles, but their ideas on how the shop should run and look are aligned.

“It’s fun having a friend as a partner,” Williamson said. “[Fetté] has so many great ideas.”

ShopGirl is currently packed full with all consignment clothes, from high-end Prada and Louis Vuitton pieces to H&M. The store offers a 50/50 split on consignment clothes, giving 50 percent of the sale back to the consignor.

“We’re looking for contemporary fashion to high-end pieces,” Fetté said. “We want people to bring in pieces they can’t see themselves wearing anymore.”

Customers can expect to find jewelry, shoes, athletic clothes, jeans, tops, dresses, sunglasses and more at ShopGirl. As Fetté put it, they have “an eclectic mix of everything you wish was in your closet.”

The boutique will offer an online segment of the store, where customers can order online. “We’re trying to be multifaceted,” Fetté said of the online store. “We’re hoping to be a destination for people.”

If ShopGirl isn’t able to sell clothes, because it’s either out of season, doesn’t fit the store’s style or is not in top condition, the clothes can be donated on behalf of the customer.

Williamson said she’s excited for this new endeavor. “I’ve always wanted to own a boutique,” she explained. “We’re both single moms, so it’s something that allows financial freedom and gives us flexible hours.

Fetté, who wants high-end fashion to be accessible to everyone, said she’s looking forward to hearing what the community’s take on their new store is. “We’re very open to recommendations and feedback from the community,” she said. “But I think we’re starting in a good spot.”

The store will celebrate with a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, April 15 at 5:30 p.m., with a reception following from 6-9 p.m. The community is invited to the grand opening where Williamson and Fetté are looking forward to sharing their love of fashion with people.

ShopGirl is located at 7960 Niwot Road Suite A2-B, behind The Painted Primrose in Cottonwood Square. For more information, contact ShopGirl at 303-652-0439 or email them at [email protected].
