Have you noticed all the construction west of Hover Road lately? According to Longmont planners, the area between Trade Centre Avenue and Clover Basin Road is having sewer lines laid for the new Kohl’s Department Store. Kohl’s will be the major retailer with 97,000 square feet of space.

To the north of Kohl’s are Retail B and Retail A lots with 20,860 square feet and 24,840 square feet respectively. Border’s Books has been approved for one of the retail spaces.

The area east of Kohl’s has been designated as a 6,650 square foot restaurant. A bank will occupy the space at the corner of Trade Centre Avenue and Hover Road.

The parcel next to Wendy’s will be home to more restaurants, shops and a three-story limited service hotel containing 78 units. 

If that isn’t enough, Home Depot is scheduled to be built on the land north of Target.

South of Kohl’s on the old Storage Tek property, Marriott Corporation is waiting for final approval to build a Marriott Courtyard, Marriott Residence Inn and restaurant.

Just when you thought construction would end, the Longmont planners have stated that Fordham Road will be extended to connect to Highway 119. The road will connect just south of Shapard’s Nursery property. This area was annexed by the city of Longmont without a single objection. 

The 50 acre property north of Shapard’s property has been purchased by Zilex Electronics. According to the county, Zilex Electronics is anticipating bringing 20,000 new jobs to the Longmont area.

Don’t forget the area by Bishop’s and the Route 119 Bistro, east of Hover Road. Office Depot is currently under construction, in addition to the office space being built for Pratt Management.

If you are not totally stressed by all this construction, sit back and relax while 95th Street south to Niwot Road gets a "facelift."

When will this construction end? Your guess is as good as mine. According to planners, there is no schedule as to when everything will be built. 

It appears that we are in for a very long series of dusty years.
