DA Candidates Come to Niwot

Tuesday, June 27, 7p.m.

Boulder County District Attorney Alex Hunter is stepping down after over 25 years in office.  Hunter never faced a serious challenge once he was first elected and ran unopposed several times.  As Bob Dylan reminds us, “Things have changed.”

Four candidates are running for the office, including two of Hunter’s deputies.  Republican Dave anderson cand Democrats Trip Demuth, Mary Keenan and Ben Thompson are on the campaign trail.  The candidates are profiled in this issue of the Courier (pages 14-15), and they are coming to town on June 27 for a candidates forum.

The forum, co-sponsored by the Courier and the Niwot Community Association, will be held at the Lefthand Grange Hall in Niwot at the corner of Second Avenue and Franklin Street.  The show will begin at 7:00 p.m. with brief statements from the candidates.  (We know these people are lawyers, but we intend to use the common sense, rather than the legal, definition of "brief.")

The audience will have an opportunity to submit questions (anonymously) on 3 X 5 cards.  Each candidate will have a chance to respond.  Hard questions deserving of answers will be given priority.
As is customary at the Grange, refreshments will be served.   See you there!
