Banners Unveiled At Community
Meet-Up
The brightly colored banners feature a cottonwood tree,
which is a unifying symbol for the Niwot community. The banners resulted from
the combined efforts of Harris Faberman of Freeman Myre, property managers for Cottonwood Square, and George
Keeler, owner of La Cavasita.
Rachel Snyder of NiwotCentral said phase two of the project would be printing photos from the Niwot Historical Society’s archives on additional banners and matching the banners with the historic locations represented in the photos. <Read More...>

celebrating the Fourth of July at Niwot’s annual

your creativity at the parade starting at Cottonwood Square Shopping Center and
winding through downtown Niwot ending at Whistle Stop Park. All kids, wheels
and four-legged friends are welcome.
Complete the morning with a musical
treat. The Niwot Community Band will warm us up at 11 a.m. with the main man, Niwot’s own Pete Wernick and Flexigrass, hitting the bandstand stage from 11:30 a.m. to

Fire District Gets New Chief
Mountain
View Fire Protection District has a new Fire Chief, Randy Templeton, who joined
the district after 28 years with the Austin, Texas, Fire Department.
“I’m
looking forward to a synergy that’s good for the department and me personally,”
said Templeton. “I feel there’s a really good match with my skill set.”
He sees
Mountain View’s challenges as funding, maintaining a timely response in the
face of growing demand and adapting to a growing organization.
When asked
what attracted him to Mountain View, Templeton said, “It is Colorado you know.
I love the mountains.”
Templeton
is married with four adult children and two grandchildren. His wife, Susan, is
a special education paraprofessional with an independent school in Austin.
Mountain
View’s previous fire chief was John Devlin who retired a year ago.

Date Set
For Niwot Criterium
Following concerns from local business owners about the
proposed Saturday closure of Niwot Road and Second Avenue, the Niwot Criterium bike race will now take place on Sunday, Aug. 26. “It’s only two weeks later, so it shouldn’t have too much
impact,” said Mike Groaning, who volunteers as race director for GS Boulder
Cycling Team.
