Don’t messwith Connie Leonard.  Leonard is the owner of Toppers Hair Salon at 6700Lookout Road in Gunbarrel.  On Tuesday, Dec.19 Leonard was finishingup with two customers when
someone entered the salon.

“Isaw a figure I thought was my son come into the shop.  Hesaid ‘Give me your money.’  All I could think of was how rude he was being,” she recalled.

It wasn’tuntil she went up to the individual, who was completely dressed in black witha ski mask that covered his face, that sherealized this wasn’t herson.

“He reached over the top of my (reception) desk and grabbed $12 incash.  At that point he pointed a gun at my face and demanded moremoney.”

Repeatedly saying no, Leonard “whapped him over the head with the hairbrush I had in my hand.”

“As for the gun, I recognized that it was a BB gun because of the smallopening the chamber had.  After I hit him he left.”

Leonard is very philosophical about the incident.  “Don’t make a lady in menopause mad,” she said.

The robber made off with $12 in cash and several good hits to the head.  This was the third of five robberies during the week of Dec. 18.  The police are not sure if the robberies are all related.
